Camp Coordinator:

Dr. Parshati Patel

Parshati has been working with CPSX outreach in various capacities since 2012. She is a CPSX alumna with a PhD in Astronomy and Planetary Science and Exploration. In addition to being involved with CPSX outreach, Parshati has also been involved in astronomy outreach (through Exploring the Stars program), as a coordinator and instructor, Program Lead for Western’s Science Rendezvous (2017) event and Western Worlds podcast as a co-host, producer and showrunner since 2012. She has a MSc and PhD in Astronomy and Planetary Science and Exploration from the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration at Western University and a Hons. BSc in Astronomy and Physics from University of Toronto.


Spencer Eagleson

Spencer, a Western alumni, is currently finishing his Bachelor of Education degree at Althouse teacher’s college. He had previously completed his undergraduate studies at Dalhousie and Western University receiving an honours degree in Geography, specializing in physical geography and earth science. Spencer is an active member of the Western and Thames Valley community as an instructor here at CPSX, a student teacher in the TVDSB, and as a coach at London St. George’s Rugby Club.

Sarah Simpson

Sarah is a PhD student in Geology and Planetary Science here at Western; she recently became a member of CPSX in August 2016. She is originally from North Carolina, but moved to London from Glasgow, Scotland where she received her M.Sc. in Earth Science in 2015. She joined CPSX outreach team in October 2016, working with Grades 4 through 9, and also have 3 years of experience teaching SCUBA diving to youth during her time as an undergraduate student in the US.

Dr. Maryam Tabeshian

Maryam is a UWO alumna with a PhD in Astronomy. She has been involved in various teaching and outreach activities since 2010 including teaching at the CPSX Space Camp in Summer 2016. She is also a sessional instructor at UWO, teaching undergraduate astronomy courses. She has a Bachelor’s degree in physics from City University of New York Hunter College, as well as MSc and PhD in Astronomy from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in studies of planets beyond the Solar System or the so-called “exoplanets”.

Gavin Tolometti

Gavin is a master’s student studying earth and planetary science at Western University. He has been a member of the Center for Planetary Science and Exploration since August 2016, and obtained his honours degree at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Working with the outreach program back at St Andrews called GeoBus, Gavin has assisted in teaching earth science to children aged 9-12 and organized a Journey to Mars session to introduce the geology of Mars.

Claudia Villatoro

 Claudia is currently a third year undergraduate student at Western University doing a Specialization in Biology and a Major in Ecosystem Health. She has always enjoyed working with children and for the past two years volunteered at the Thames Valley Children Centre conducting recreational programs and have loved it. Claudia is a very active member in the community by volunteering at a retirement home for four years, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Society, local parish and many other amazing places.
