Summer academy is a 1-week summer camp for children in Grade 7/8. This is a more academic version of the camp with a blended learning experience where the participants will be learning about various topics in space science and technology and will engage in several experiments, hands-on activities, as well as discussions led by Western Space faculty, postdoctoral fellows and/or graduate students.

Virtual Camps: Due to COVID-19, we are offering virtual Summer Academy in the months of July and August. Virtual Academy is offered in both French and English. Virtual Academy runs in half-day sessions from 9 am to 12 pm or 1 pm to 4 pm. All sessions are live and guided by our Instructors, with the support of Counselors.

The camps are run by the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration (Western Space), a leading organization for planetary science and exploration research and training in Canada. The Camp Coordinator, Tabetha Sheppard is a science communicator and holds a BSc. in Geology. The camp counselors are certified in First Aid and CPR-C. For the academy, the sessions will be either led by the Western faculty, postdoctoral fellows or graduate students.
